Well long time no write! As mentioned in my previous post, I was out for my recovery. I am now able to sit at the computer for short bursts of time and get some stuff done other than just printing the check balances.
The surgery went well. It was more than they thought in some ways, and not as much in others. My ligaments were far more severely stretched than he thought and so not only did he have to stitch them together, he also had to anchor them with a screw and sutures to my bone. That was the part that they had to do more than they anticipated. The good news was that my tendon behind my ankle bone was not as torn as they excpected, instead, it was the muscle from my calf continuing on down the tendon to help itself stabilize my ankle, but really just making it worse. So he cut that off and my tendon now sits where its supposed to...yay! The first few days were very painful, but now I am just managing with motrin and the painkillers at night when I am at my sorest. I have been through three casts, and finally got my stitches out on the 7th. I won't lie, that hurt...apparently they were in there pretty tight, so they had to go under the skin a bit to get them out. Good news now though: ONLY ONE MORE WEEK in a cast!!!!! My four weeks is up next week, and then I will be in a tie up brace for two months, but next week I can start weight bearing on my foot!
On a not so good note....our Chihuahua Sally, has a matching cast just like her mommy. :( She got stepped on by Bob a little over a week ago, and then the following day, Brie fell on her. I let her go until yesterday to see if there would be improvement, but she was still limping. Turns out she blew the ligaments on the side of her knee. So she is in a hard splint for about twelve weeks, and costing us a small fortune. Thankfully I have the best mom in the world and she was willing to help us out with the cost as with me not working we have zero extra money to pay that with.
So that's about it here...the kids had a great Christmas and New Years and they made out like bandits yet again. I will post more when I'm up to it, but right now I'm just focusing on keeping the swelling down as much as possible and that means keeping my toes above my nose. :)
